Hi, I know this isn't the usual sort of question for this board, but the boards I usually go to do not have people as technical as they are on here (they are more into the fashion of the mods, rather than the performance aspect)

I have a 300ZX Twin Turbo, and I'm looking to get larger injectoes that will fit my car. Stock, it has 370cc injectors, which is about 36 lbs/hr, low impedance. I want to upgrade the injectors on my car, but the aftermarket injectors sold for my car are $1500 and I cannot justify paying that price for injectors which are probably standard on another car for $300. The GN is the only car I know of that uses injectors this large.

What I'm trying to do is find an injector that will fit my car. The older 300ZX turbos had aftermarket injectors available for $600, but someone found out they were actually Bosch injectors, looked up the part #, and found they were standard equipment on a 1975 Mercedes 450 SEL, with replacements available for $50. So for $300, you could buy a set of the identical injector that is sold under another name for $600.

I've been searching the pages on here (nice site, very technical) and I want to know if the injectors for the GN can be made to fit my car. I'm looking for 55 lb injectors. Looking at the injector page, they look very similar except that the GN injectors have a cylindrical plastic piece extending from the top of the injector, whereas the Z injector ends around the electrical connector. Is there any way to take that off without cutting it? Does that screw on or is it all one molded piece? Do you think there's a way I can make it fit?

Thank you very much,

Marshall

The ones you are looking for are pictured at http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/pictureguides/injectors/55lb.html

Like all other injectors of this type, the top section is one molded piece and not designed for removal. Note that this portion of the injector is usually buried in the fuel rail, so you may not see it when installed.

I have a 1987 Grand National, it has 48-50 psi fuel injectors set at 38 psi with the turbo set between 10 to 12 lbs. It has 2 1/2" dual exhaust, KN 9" filter, and TE 60 Turbo. The car is having a problem with rough idle after I slow down from fast acceleration. I also have some problems taking off from a stop with slow response ( not racing, just making a turn or leaving a stop sign)the car again acts if it wants to die. I also have noticed that white smoke along with oil coming from the tail pipe. I have noticed oil leaking from the exhaust manifold where it connects to the turbo. Are these easily fixed problems, I have already spent over $800.00 with a mech that obviously does not know what to do. Any direction would be helpful. Thanks in advance Steven.

http://www.turbo-link.com/ may be helpful in understanding the various scan tool offerings as well.
