My car has 164K miles on STOCK injectors. I am in need of injectors...BAD. My question is should I skip 36lbs and go straight to 42.5 since a turbo and FMIC is in my near future plans? I plan on using a PT-60 and a Dequick V-2. (pretty rare setup around here huh?) I just don't want to waste money on 36s and shortly after upgrade again. Secondly, what is the difference betweeen the 868s and the "bluetops". I was told that 868s are junk. Both are 36lb injectors right? Then what makes the "bluetop" so much better?

Brandon, any response on this yet? I have the same question about the bluetops vs 868's. I thought they were both 38 lb/hr not 36?????

Brandon, you may need the 009 injectors for that size turbo and front mount setup. Might be best to start with them.

The 868 and 'blue top' injectors flow very similar, and are generally accepted to be 36 lb/hr flow. The 868 ones are a newer style that are physically similar to those on the supercharged 3800 cars. I haven't heard anything negative about them. For what its worth, I understand the original blue tops are out production. There are similar ones being offered as Ford motorsport pieces, however.

i'd skip the 009's and go with the MSD 50's. They are better injectors and the chips guys seem to tune them better than the 009's, just my $.02 :)

Go at least to the 009's. They are about the same money as any 36 lb injectors you will find. The 50's are a step up in price, but really nice from what I hear. I was running out of fuel with my blue tops at the end of a run (got a scan tool?)with a smaller turbo than you plan on using, no problems with the 009's. I use a Jay Carter Variable Timing street chip (20 lbs of boost on pump gas)and have no drivability problems with the 009's.
