Tuesday, June 19, 2001 - 05:32 am I did not get any passes in Friday because the rain hit right after the car show. Saturday my bone stock 84 T-Type saw it's maiden voyage at Beech Bend. My first pass on stock Good Year Eagle GT tires I could not get any traction. So the rest of the passes were from idle. In the morning temp 85% RH 94 a 16.0@88 16.1@87 In round 2 B5 I was far ahead and took my foot off the gas at the 1000 foot mark and broke out 15.6@79 8-( Between morning and afternoon I picked up about a tenth 60 foot and 3 tenths at 330 and 4 tenths at the 1/8th. They did put a traction aiding chemical for the quick 16 before our class ran. Any thoughts? I wonder what my time would have been had I stayed in it. bye, Ed http://edchapman.tripod.com/cars.html 84 T-Type WH1, 87 T, 87 GN

Tuesday, June 19, 2001 - 06:58 am Do you have the splits on that 15.6 timeslip vs. the 16.x timeslips? Was the MPH any different at the 1/8 mile?

Wednesday, June 20, 2001 - 04:48 am RT .613 .744 60 2.56 2.48 330 6.9 6.6 1/8 10.4 10.0 mph 70.3 71.5 1k 13.4 13.0 1/4 16.0 15.6 mph 88.1 78.7 hi Ken, I did pick up 1.2 mph at the 1/8 and was asleep at the lights on the last run (not that it mattered). Does this indicated some horsepower gain possibly due to RH and the rest traction? bye, Ed http://edchapman.tripod.com/cars.html 84 T-Type WH1, 87 T, 87 GN

Wednesday, June 20, 2001 - 06:35 am From looking at the splits, it appears the car was charging harder than the 16 sec run. It probably would have run a low 15 @ 90+ if you were to stay in it. Part of the gain was the better 60 foot, but it continued to pick at the 1/8th, stayed about the same at the 1000 foot mark and looks as if it was pulling a bit beyond the 1000 ft. A lot of times you'll scrub MPH off if you lift or hit the brakes in the lights, but not as much ET. It appears that you picked up ... it could have been that the air was better, the car was running a bit more boost, the fuel was closer to what the car needed, etc. A matter of tuning and traction and you should be pretty solidly in the 14s, IMHO.

Wednesday, August 01, 2001 - 08:27 am Yeah, I'd say you definately need traction. There is definately some power there. On a 15.50 run (87.7 mph), my 1/8th mile was 9.91 at 69.8 mph. Your up in MPH but down in time. Better traction would bring that time down and boost MPH a little bit. With stickier tires and cooler temps, I don't see why a 15-flat E.T. shouldn't be excpected. My 1/4 mile MPH was 87.7, and this was in 90 degree heat with 80% humidity. Looking for more, as always...
