I have noticed today that I have a crack in one of my headers on my 85 Regal T-Type motor. I have seen on ebay a few headers. Stock ones and Some Hooker headers I think. My question is Which Headers and up pipes crossovers will swap out for this motor. Most of the ones I see are for 79-84 or 79-83. Or will the GN headers fit. Also thanx for all of the help from you guys. This is the best website I have ever seen.

Also I wanted to know which mufflers are good for the turbo applications. Some one said that Flomaster are no good for Turbo exhaust. Also adding to my question I have a set of 87 GN heads that I might want to put on my 85 Regal T-Type motor. Will these help me with performance and will any of the headers from my before mentioned question fit... Thanx.

The 85 is a bit tougher to get headers for ... not the same as the 86/87s. I think Lee Thompson makes the headers that are considered "best" (any Hot Air guys wanna confirm?)

They are pretty pricey, but stainless steel and fit are good, from what I hear. ATR might make headers to fit, but I don't think Hookers will fit.

As far as mufflers, some people have had decent luck with FlowMasters. Personal taste comes into play with sound. I don't really car for the sound (too much like firecrackers in a trash can to me ... just my opinion, no offense to anyone! :))

The biggest complaint against any of the mufflers available is the dreaded "drone" at 2000-2200 RPM (about where you cruise on the highway).

Some of the ones that don't seem to drone (at least not as bad .. exhaust configuration, headers, cat/no cat, all can affect it) ...

I like the Walker Ultraflows ... straight thru, deep rumble at idle, but quiet at cruise. Kinda raspy at WOT though. ATR makes a similar muffler (the PitBulls)... my ears tell me they are louder. Edlebrock makes the Aerochambers, which some people have used with good success ... they don't seem to drone either. Some folks have also used the Dynomax Race Magnums.

The ones that I can personally say REALLY drone are the Walker Super Turbos ... pretty quiet, but drone on the highway. They flow pretty well and seem to be pretty affordable.

In my experience ATR makes the best exhaust and headers for our hot airs. I have these on my car and know of others. Not sure Lee is still making these since I thought he sold his last set last year at the nationals but you can ask. ATR are direct bolt on and really bring the car around.

Anybody use the dual stage for the hot airs from Kenne Bell? looking to replace all exhaust pipes infront of gutted out cat and 2.5 dual exhaust??? I have seen the posts on the ATR set up(very nice BTW)but both set ups are within 100.00 of eachother so it is not a factor. Looking for driver input!
