Thursday, May 23, 2002 - 07:17 am I am new to the GN world and i love it! I got this car really cheap and when i got it it had minor problems such as a blown head gasket. I took the engine apart and had the heads resurfaced while they were off and everything replaced all the gaskets now im puting the turbo back on and everything is bolted on except the wastegate, you see the previous owner of the car died (which is why it was so cheap, i got it from his wife) the wastegate arm has been modified it has been cut and rewelded now when i go to bolt it on i have to push really hard to make it go in, could the arm be too short?? how long should it be? I would appreciate any help

Thursday, May 23, 2002 - 08:17 am I'm pretty new to these cars myself, but my arm is also very hard to push in, and i think that is the correct setup. The shorter the arm, (hence, the more difficult to move) the more boost you get. At any rate, i wouldn't sweat it unless it turns out that you get *Too Much Boost* when you step on it. http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/images/Adj_wastegate.JPG Check that, maybe the guy had installed an adjustable wastegate, i know my previous owner had installed one on his. -Brian M

Thursday, May 23, 2002 - 09:00 am thanks, I should have it all running as soon as i get some time off. I can't wait. oh by the way can anyone tell me where an aftermarket boost gauge taps into? i made the mistake of disconnecting everyhting before making sure where everything goes. It has a what looks liek a copper tube coming from the gauge and it goes to a T where it should connect.

Thursday, May 23, 2002 - 10:09 am Take a look at the Turbocharger section of the web site. There's about 3 different methods of hooking up a boost gauge documented there, depending on what's convenient on your car...
