Brian Mahoney (Brianm) | Wednesday, May 29, 2002 - 08:35 am When i go about 65 miles an hour, my rpms are at 3000. When i go faster, it increases, but the tranny neve upshifts form there. I've tried posting this under the transimission section, but noone is as helpful there as the Hot Air Guys are. Is this the normal engine speed for that speed range? Is my tranny not shifting into top gear? I don't think the tranny is bad, i just had it rebuilt 10k miles ago, and the fuid level is fine. Thanks! Brian |

Scott Przybysz (Priz) | Wednesday, May 29, 2002 - 09:17 pm As stated, the stock tach is junk, on my car it's off by like 200rpm at idle but by the time TurboLink says around 3000rpm, the dash says 6000+. Course I guess I could just take friends for a ride and tell them the whistle isn't the turbo, just the insane rpm's I'm pullin. As far as the tranny goes, just pull over somewhere safe, then wait for a hole in traffic. As you accelerate, listen/feel for the car to shift and then listen/feel for the converter to unlock or lock...whatever it does, that should tell you if everything in the tranny is working ok as far as shifting and the gears. |
Brian Mahoney (Brianm) | Thursday, May 30, 2002 - 09:39 am LOL Yeah i was going by the horrible stock gauge! Thanks a lot guys. I had heard that the boost gauge was bad, but i hadn't heard anything negative about the tach! I guess i'll try to find something on this site to hook up an aftermarket tach! Ya know, if i didn't have this forum, i'd be in a lot of trouble! Thanks again! Brian M |
