if have an 85GN that no one seems to know how to work on so im hoping for some help here.

since i bought it in august of 2001 ive only put 64miles on it and this is not by choice.

for a brief history
i would be going down the road and as soon as throttle more then 1/4 car would die like you just took the key out of the ignition. after 30minutes or so of cranking it would just all of a sudden fire up. The next day it ran even worse.
So i parked it.
Now 9 months latter or so it will not start at all it cranks but and sounds like it wants to but wont.

i have replaced
computer 2 times,Mass air flow sensor 3 times,o2 three times, map sensor 3 times, tps 3 times, plug and wires twice, and coil twice...only thing left is crank sensor(could this cause my problem?). is this worth the trouble or should i just junk it and cut my looses? paid 5500 for car and over 3000 so far in repairs from 2 different repair shops and it still wont start.

sorry so long winded

When your cranking the engine check to see whether or not the spark plugs are firing. you can do this by hooking up a spark tester to one of the wires. If there is no spark start with the crank sensor to see if it is putting out a signal to the ignition module. If there is spark that eleminates the crank sensor and the ignition module. Check to see if there is fuel pressue at the fuel rail by hooking up a fuel pressure gauge.
note:(when you turn the key to the run position you should be able to hear the fuel pump run for about 2 to 3 seconds then stop. If no fuel pressure, check the power to the fuel pump and check to see if the fuel pump relay is working. Now if you have both spark and fuel pressure check to see if the fuel injectors are firing. A fool proof way is to hook up a noid light to one of the wire terminals going to a fuel injectors and crank the engine. The noid light should blink on and off. If not check the fuse for the injectors. note:( If the cam sensor is faulty this will also effect the operation of the injectors. So check that too. Make sure the air filter is not clogged. Remember it takes fuel, spark, air, compression, correct timing of these events, (and a little luck to make the engine run).Hope this helps. You can email me if you get stuck.

Good advice ... basically, check fuel pressure during cranking and look for spark. No spark, it's probably the crank sensor (or dirt/crud on the interrupter ring).

Could also be the cam sensor if it's got electrical problems.

Thanks For Advice i appreciate it....The little nipple plug on top for pressure sprays fuel when u push in on it so that is good i think and i have replaced the pump in the tank. as far as plugs i dont have tester but i stuck a screwdriver in one end of the wire and cranked it over and it did ark...I forgot to mention the car will crack and fast crack like it is on the direct virge of firing....

Just a thought but this is what the car does if the computer isn't plugged in. Check you connections to your ecm make sure everything checks out, almost sounds like you brain is hooked up.
