Very difficult to find a 3" dp for our cars. People have made them in the past, but there are none currently. Best choice is to find a used one (I just found one, but I have to buy the entire header set to get it, you might find the same). Other than that, maybe find someone to custom bend one for ya. I have also seen a few people who have tried to make their own (with limited results).

3 in downpipe buyers for 84-85 beware, I have a fairly salty combo on my 84 gn and like you I wanted the 3 in pipe and like you couldnt find it, so I ended up with a 2.5 from atr, very nice pipe but one problem, very difficult to work around, move around for installation, and flat out cracked my heater box and is still resting with pressure on the box, so that makes me wonder how the 3 in. would fit, maybe Im the only one having trouble but be prepared for a fight. And I promise the eng has to come out to do it, Im not trying to talk you out of it because the stocker clearly leaves somthing to be desired, If you want a pic I could probley get you one in a day or so, the upside was the pipe is made of good stainless and it wasnt much money, good luck

I have heard that someone made a 3" dp for the hotair cars which was a two-piece design, so that it would be much easier to install, and the upper portion could be removed for spark plug changes, etc...Lee Thompson maybe?

James ill get you some pics as soon as i can, ive got my hands full now, but maybe some extra investigation would be in order to try to find that two peice design that jared is talkin about, it sounds more user friendly, and yes there is a atr site, look under vendors index on this site,

Jared,
How are the body bushings and supports on your car? That can make all the difference when it comes to getting parts to fit. I was banging my driveshaft off of my DS loop whenever I hit the gas, because my bushing were shot. This might be why you have trouble with yours. Just a thought.

Brian

In case anyone in here hasn't heard: Lee Thompson is making his 3" downpipe again. Last I heard, he was taking $75 down payments as deposits. Email him if you want one, probably never get a chance to do this again (I ordered mine two days ago).

This is an excellent set up and well worth the investment if you want one. Lee Thompson is the man doing 10's in a hot air no intercooler with alcohol injection. Yes it's a snug fit, but sometimes that's the price you pay for horsepower.
