OK first of all...I wanna tip my hat to Ken Mosher ...Thanks for all the help (you are a hell of a guy) I hope I get the pleasure of meeting you someday....
Anywho....I was having all kinds of idle problems so I reset my IAC ..and adjusted my TPS according to kens instructions,...Problem solved!
but my car still runs VERY rich...
I have a WALBRO 307 FP
Tomco ?? green injectors
and a supposedly adjustible FPR now....
w/ the stock FPR (fuel pressure regulator) I got dead nuts 32 psi at the rail (idle). w/ the vac. line off...right at 40psi (Im assumig this is normal) so then I installed a "cheater"? type FPR that the guy gave me w/ the car ( he said it kept fouling plugs so he put the stock one back on)
NOW,...the adjustible one gave me 36 psi(idle and 40 with vac line off...So I started adjusting the little allen head where the vac line goes and,....NOTHING HAPPEN!!! no change in the fuel pressure???? WHAT GIVES! Am I doing this wrong or is it just bad?
Anyhow,... W/ either FPR I am Running VERY rich all the time.... chocking on black smoke the whole way
So what should I do now? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
For love of god my poor GN can only do a 14.9 at the track...This is rather embarrasing for all the MODS I have A guy w/ less than me did a 13.40 with his 86 T-Type all he had was a bigger turbo and a alcohaol injection kit Ive got the K N ram air kit and t-44 AAAHHHHH!!!!!

UPDATE!
I got a new adjustible FPR!
I can adjust the fuel pressure now,...so I set it at 41-42 psi and it was like OVERKILL!
what is the deal? anyone?
I turned it back to 36 and put 4 gallons of TUBO BLUE(110 octane) and 10 gallons of 93 octane popped in my 100 octane chip and holly s@#!...This car woke up and started screaming...
yet it is still running rich?

Sounds like the chip may not be correct?

If the injectors are indeed Tomcos, they could either be 30# injectors or 42# injectors. If the calibration is for the 30# injectors and you have 42# injectors, then it will be pig rich.

Several very good chips out there...

  • Scott Simpson (and Russ Selerno?) are distributors for the often praised Thrasher chips.
  • Red Armstrong (Quad Air Inc) makes good chips
  • Modern Muscle sells Bob Bailey's innovative chips
  • Jay Carter also has some innovative chips, including a variable timing/boost chip
  • Several of the Buick vendors (Cotton's Perf., Conley's Perf., Poston's, Ron's Custom, etc.) sell/resell chips from some/all of the above
