I have an 85 GN and would like to add an intercooler. Anyone with any experience out there? A friend told me he read somewhere that a person can sort of retro fit an intercooler from a newer Ford diesel. Anyone else out there with any knowledge of this?

I heard about Ford ICs in relation to the IC
kit offered by Turbomotion when they were in
business. But that involved a new intake and
other pieces I'm not familiar with. Spearco may
still offer one but I hear there are boost lag
problems with it. (due to all the extra tubing)
It might be better to maximize what you have or
think about trading in your '85 for a later,
intercooled Regal.

Spearco makes a kit but there is a easy to get rid of some extra piping. So the lag isn't that bad/ it really isn't has bad as people make it out to be if you have the right setup. Plus if you just dont like the lag. Strap a bottle on and spray to spool. Or bigger stall.

I have a spearco intercooler on my as well. I too had lag problems but heard if you relocate the trottle body from the turbo to the intercooler pipe just short of the intake housing, this setup will fix all lag and stalling problems. Once I do this i'll confirm.
