ok here we go---
85 t type 3.8
i get a knocking at high rpms(sounds like a verry loud detonation)
its also got a small backfire when you first push the gas (sounds intake to me)
i am going to start with the idle controll-and tps
cam sensor and the crank sensor are already set
i will keep you all posted please leave any sugestions (like sell it and buy a ford---lol)
just kidding
can i set the idle control with a vom????
i know i can set the tps with it

Sounds like a lean condition and/or too much boost.

Crank sensor is nonadjustable.

IAC and TPS ought to help driveability and stalling, but probably won't do much for this problem.

Idle is not adjustable externally ... it's controlled in the chip.

I'd put a fuel pressure gauge and a scan tool on it and see what's going on. You should see fuel pressure rise at 1 psi of FP for each psi of boost. If not, your pump is kaput.

Look for lean O2s, excessive retard, bad MAF on the scan tool.

ok i got the pressure checked today--28 lbs at idle
with the vac line unpluged it was only 30
what do you think ,,replace it ???
and we turned the boost down till i get it running a little better(new motor ,dont want to go thu that again)
the boost is arround 10 now

Take a drive and see if the fuel pressure keeps up with boost. It should rise one pound for each pound of boost.
