Hello All,
need to know were to get a hot air downpipe? looking for something new and it doesn't matter if it is 2 1/2 or 3. I do plan on getting this car in the low twelves by next year so I guess I should just buy the three inch. I also would like to know about the coolant bypass procedure, do the coolant lines need to be hooked up to the tbi or can you just eliminate them. I have a smoothed firewall and no power steering and no ac. If anyone has any ideas on anything I can eliminate please let me know, the motor is a 1985 buick gn that is in a 1983 buick t-type.....Thanks for any help.......Frank

Frank,
You can cap off the coolant lines to the TB.
If you don't live in a constantly cold place,
it shouldn't hurt drivability but I don't know
how it'll effect DEQ emissions tests. Something
to consider. I've disconnected mine & haven't
had problems. I'm shopping for a DP too but
check the vendor section on this site. ATR,
Conley's, Mease Performance and others offer DP's
for the hot airs. I hear 3-inchers make it hard
to work on spark plugs & that 2.5" DP's have all
the performance most people need but I don't have
any firsthand knowledge. Dive in and good luck!
Nick

Well thanks for the information Nick,
I just actually bought a downpipe from atr for 159.99 plus shipping, it is a stock 2 1/2 inch stainless steel design but that will do for now....Thanks Frank

Just for information, the three inch Lee thompson made is excellent and a 3 piece unit, to be able to take off to get to the plugs. The 2 1/2 atr doesn't make it any easier to get to the plugs on the driver's side. You still have issues. And the performance was a real gain going to the 3 inch in my opinion.
