John Mero (Turbo_Gimp) | Wednesday, July 23, 2003 - 08:39 pm i just put on a new turbo, 42 1/2# inj, walbro 307, adj reg (set at 40 psi), chip, hotwire kit. i got every thing from presision turbo. i had the car running then it quit. have found that the coil packs died got new coil and mod (87 style had before)hooked it up and still nothing. it turns over just fine. it also pumps fuel. none of the fuses were blown in the car. how do i check the crank and cam sensors with a volt meter? are there any fuse links that would cause it to not get spark? could the tps test ok but still be bad? please help i am inches away from driving it and getting no where. please help thanks in advance. John Mero (Turbo_Gimp) | Thursday, July 24, 2003 - 07:30 am how do i test it the cranksensor? and how much of a pain in the ass is it to replace? do i need any special tools? thanks in advance John Mero '84 T-Type |
Scott Przybysz (Priz) | Thursday, July 24, 2003 - 07:40 pm You said 87 style had before, did you replace it with an 87 unit or an 84-85 unit? If it had an 87 setup then you need to replace it with an 87 setup. If it's the crank sensor you shouldn't need any special tools that I can remember. It's not hard, atleast on an 87, but it can be hard to get to depending on your size and flexibility. Good luck. |
John Mero (Turbo_Gimp) | Sunday, July 27, 2003 - 09:57 am well i am a big guy and thankfully i am very flexable. yes i had an 87 style coil and mod replaced with an 87 style. well i found that the cranksensor is bad. the only question that i have is when the cranksensor goes out will there be an inj pulse? or is the cam sensor shot as well? thanks in advance John Mero '84 T-Type |
Scott Przybysz (Priz) | Monday, July 28, 2003 - 12:19 pm From as far as I know, the crank sensor only tells the engine(or ecm) when to fire, the fueling is controlled by the cam sensor. So you should still get an injector pulse. |
John Mero (Turbo_Gimp) | Monday, July 28, 2003 - 08:39 pm well if thats the case then its a good thing that i have a new cam sensor that i found in the car. if the car still doesn't start after replacing the crank and cam could it be the computer or is there a fuse link in the circit some where? the computer will go to check the codes. can it be bad and still do that? thanks in advance John Mero '84 T-Type |
John Mero (Turbo_Gimp) | Wednesday, August 13, 2003 - 05:36 pm yep it was the crank sensor so thanks everyone. John Mero '84 T-Type |
