I just recently purchased my first turbo car, an '85 grand national, and I am just starting to learn all the bells and wistles about GM fuel injection after spending the last ten years working on fuel injected mustangs. I am having a problem and thought maybe someone here might have a suggestion. The last time I drove the car it ran fine, parked it, and let it sit for about a week. When I went back out to drive it again it would run fairly normal until about the spot where tha turbo spools up then it just kinda falls on it's face. It seems to bog down under boost or something. Could this be a bad fuel pump? Does GM mount these in the tank as ford, or are they inline(like I could be so lucky,LOL)? Also, has anyone had any luck with the cheap code scanners as far as the ability of the stock computer's self diagnostic features when trouble shooting? Thanks.

First thing you are going to want to do is get a scan tool for your car........the hot air cars can only use certain scan tools. The scanmasters will not work with our cars. I personally use turbolink and love it. A scan tool will let you know what is going on with your car. I am just know figuring out how to read all the data....LOL!! At the very least get a knock gauge, fuel pressure gauge on a line to make sure your fuel pressure is going up evenly with your boost, GET A GOOD AFTERMARKET BOOST GAUGE. All of these will benefit you while driving your car and can save you from having to fix a blown headgasket. These gauges would also help ya with your current problem. Also check out Turbobuick.com there are a lot more guys that hang out over there in the "hot air" section then on this board.

What mods does your car all have done to it now?
There are a lot of basic upgrades that you can do to these cars and pick up some easy power!

Welcome to the darkside........LOL

Nick

Low on fuel? Fuel sloshing and uncovering the pump?

I am not sure what mods my car has exactly. I know the turbo is an aftermarcket larger one, but not sure what or how to tell. It has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and larger injectors, I know that. Other than that all I know is a shift kit and 4:11 rear gears.
