I have a stock 84gn.I've seen the 86&87 guys changing over to Ls1 MAF and using translater boxs. I am changing over to an 87 computer and electronics. I want to know if I will benifit to change over to that style MAF and translater? I also need to know what would be the best chip to buy with this conversion?

As long as you're changing to the 87 ECM, the translator will be a very good upgrade, especially since you can't get a decent 87 style MAF any more. I've used both a Red's 92 and a Thrasher chip with mine and both run very well.

Being as it's stock, the 3" LT1 MAF should do just fine. Ramchargers sells the translator and MAF, and you can get a Red Armstrong chip from Quad Air, or a Thrasher chip from Rob Wilson on the GN/TTYPE list. Check the GN/TType website in the vendors section, they should both be in there.

To get a Thrasher chip, contact Rob Wilson at rowilson@infinet.com

The Thrasher is still $25 I think, and a great chip for the street. Drop Rob a post and tell him Fast Freddie sent ya.
