I am currently trying to create a new "recipe" for the hotair cars. This is based mostly on personal experience and soon to be backed up by track times. If you would like to see the "rough draft" please reply and let me know and I will post it on here for everyone to see. I feel as though the current recipes listed are somewhat dated, and now as interest in the hotair cars is picking up, we need something to really get the new guys on the right track. Since the old recipes were created, we have learned a lot about these cars and believe we have found what works reasonably well for them.

Hi Ken, good to see you here as well.

Take care,

GREAT stuff Mike! Do me a favor and send me a copy of it and I'll get it put up in the Recipe section for easy access. MAIL TO ME

BTW, I moved this topic to a new topic to make it stand out a bit.

The recipe has been forwarded on to Ken, we'll see if I have to fix any spelling mistakes. But I'm confident it will be a great asset to building performance hotair cars. It does, however, cover stock turbo/engine configurations, but give out a lot of tips for future tuning as well as other possible upgrades.

lots of good info in there, couple of minor errors I found:

as you’ll probably just expedite some for of failure.

not quite sure what this is supposed to say :)

* Gutted or no catalytic converter

Free flowing or no mufflers

* The ubiquitous K&N cone or complete induction kit

and lastly,

* I have had excellent results with a larger downpipe, so feel as though I should highly suggest it.

looks as though all of these were bulleted except the free flowing muffler part...

What have you guys discovered the hot air cars like as far as boost vs timing go assuming stock or near stock turbo/injectors? Any idea what kind of times this recipe should provide?

thanks!

Well, I'm just explaining that I don't want people with problem cars modifying their cars lest they damage it.

The bullet didn't come out properly.

There are a couple of spelling mistakes :)

When it comes to boost vs. timing vs. fuel, each car is different. I find personally that my car likes no knock retard at all, with just a touch over 800mV, around 810 or 815 seems to be ideal with 15 psi. It is possible to run more boost and higher fuel pressure, but my car is happy here, so I'm leaving it as is for a while. I run a street chip, and believe the timing is in the very high teens, 18-19º or so. Track times are a-comin'! September 1st will be the true test of this recipe, on pump gas and street trim, hopefully with stickier tires though...
