Does anyone know the differences between the ALDL connector on hot air cars and intercooled cars? I am trying to pull data from the computer, but scanners and laptops cannot get a connection for some reason. I have converted to the 87 ECM, and added a MAT sensor. This is in an 84 GN. Also, I am trying to decide whether or not my torque converter clutch is operating. I have tried to short pins A and F in the ALDL connector to force the clutch to lockup, but it doesn't seem to work, and it sets an error code 31. Any information would be helpful.

They are the same, sounds like maybe a problem in the wiring where it plugs into the top of the ECM or the aldl harness?

The ECM connectors ARE a little corroded. Could this cause problems such as these? If so, is there a way to clean these plugs, or should I just replace them?

Sounds like a good candidate ... all sorts of flaky and strange stuff can occur. You might try some of the electronic contact cleaner you can get at places like Radio Shack
