BOUGHT A 85 GN. 48000 MILES. TRANNY PAN LEAKS. SHOULD I JUST CHECK TORQUE AND IF SO WHAT SHOULD TORQUE BE OR PLAN ON A NEW GASKET. ALSO A SLOW SEEP OF OIL FROM VALVE COVERS. NOTHING MAJOR. NO DRIPS. SHOULD I JUST CHECK TORQUE IF SO WHAT SHOULD TORQUE BE OR DONT WORRY ABOUT IT OR REPLACE GASKETS. THANK YOU.

If you are going to be crawling underneath, then you'd probably be better off changing the fluid and filter. Just retorquing won't guarantee that it will stop leaking, so you may be under there again soon, anyways. Then you'd be ahead of the game, and at least you would know for sure when it was changed last. It is always a good idea to go through the car when you first get it anyways. Try the Spring cleaning on this site.
Just make sure the surfaces are real clean before you put the new gasket in.
