dan conway (Mychosen1) | Friday, July 06, 2001 - 11:24 am I was recently given a 1980 buick regal limited with the 3.8l v6 i also have acces to a 66 283 chevy sb and a 200r4 tranny, my question is will the sb fit in the buick with the 200r4 and where can i find the engine/tranny mounts etc. any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Scott Keller (Keller) | Friday, July 06, 2001 - 07:39 pm Provided the 2004R is a dual-pattern case (BOP and Chevy) you should be able to make it work. No offense, but...we really don't condone the use of non-Buick powerplants. This is the Turbo Regal site, after all! And we're proponents of Buick power, not Buicks with SBC's in them. So this really isn't going to be a receptive forum for your swap. |
Rich George (B4black) | Monday, July 09, 2001 - 04:21 pm The 200-4R uses a different crossmember than the original trans. A frame mount will need to be welded to the drivers side frame rail. The SBC will fit fine, just like in a Monte Carlo, but you may want to look into building up the 3.8 V6. There are plenty of performance parts around and it can perform. This motor is a natural for a Blow-Thru turbo. |
manuel vargas (1st4barrelturbo) | Tuesday, October 09, 2001 - 07:15 pm i wouldnt condone putting a chevy motor in this car, especialy a 283. you can get more power and performance out of a turbo charged 3.8(properly built of course) than a 283,no offence. i should know i have one of the oldest rarest buicks turbos on this web site 1978 buick regal turbo/limited sport coupe 4bbl |
Brian Werley (Motrhead1) | Saturday, November 10, 2001 - 05:24 am i put a 350 chevy in my 1981 limited with no problems other then modifying the tranny crossmember. These cars have the dumbest cross members i ever saw.I had to cut and weld mine to put dual exhaust on it,i notched it to tuck the drivers side pipe up further so it wouldnt be hanging so low |
