Michael T Ross (Miketr) | Monday, July 30, 2001 - 05:15 am I'm new here and I just found the car stated above with a 3.8 turbo engine. The body and paint are in decent shape and the interior is fair. The owner states the motor has a "noise", whatever that means. Is this car with fixing? Thanks in advance! |
Ken Mosher (Kenmosher) | Monday, July 30, 2001 - 08:02 am Well, they are cool cars and part of the early history of the turbo Regals. There's no huge inherent value in the car though . In fact, you may be able to really get the seller to discount it, depending on their knowledge of TRs... "Oh, it has one of those turbos... expensive to replace, ya know! The "noise" is probably rod knock, and can be pretty expensive to fix ... if the car is perfectly restored, it'd be fun to have and drive. I hate to say it, but it'll probably be tough to get what you have in it back out of it, if you sell it. |
Michael T Ross (Miketr) | Monday, July 30, 2001 - 08:51 am Thanks for your input Ken! I was thinking of buying it and selling it on Ebay or something. If I can make a few quick deals on selling cars I can save my pennies and buy a GN or T Type! I currently have a 1995 Z28 for my daily driver and want to get a GN or a 1970 GS for a toy. I can get the car for $200. DO you think I'd make at least $400 profit on Ebay? |
Mike Bonneau (Mike85gn) | Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - 09:20 pm Wow, an '82 Turbo GN Sport Coupe is super-rare, according to Rich Georges site I believe he said something like 25 of them were built. Now that is one rare (and beautiful) car!!! I would verify that it is not a GN package car, as the value of one of those would easilly be a few grand. |
Scott Keller (Keller) | Wednesday, August 01, 2001 - 12:11 pm Don't believe it was mentioned as being a GN. And given the unique two-tone paint and graphics of the GN, it'd probably be easy to recognize. Though the GN/SC cars were very rare, the '82 Sport Coupes weren't quite so rare. (over 2000 produced) |
