I am going to buy a 83 carb turbo 3.8 out of a wrecked transam, that has 20 thousand miles on it, has everthing but the wiring harness, But I am also buying a manifold with fuel injection bolted on for 150 bucks, can I just convert the carb intake over to a fuel injected engine, then will this be pretty much the same block as the 84-87, like will it perform as well, I also am going to put a bigger turbo on it so I think it should hall ass plus a chip. but where can I get the wiring harness and the computer. thanks
Ben

What type of system is the Fuel Injection manifold? MFI, SFI, TBI, TPI? What year/motor is it from?

If you are trying to use on a Buick SFI system from a 84/87 Turbo V6, the systems are VERY different. While as you point out, the blocks are pretty much the same, everything else is different. (Casper's Electronics has the 84/87 Turbo V6 wiring harnesses.)

If you are looking to add a TBI in place of the carb, I doubt the benfits could ever outway sticking with the Quadrajet. It would require a lot of developement.

Anyone still out there? Will the '83 block work as a substitute for an '86-'87 style block?
Are the intake bolt patterns the same? Will a Buick SFI system(ECM, harness, upper, lower, etc.) bolt up to an '83 block

Physically, most of the top end stuff will bolt on. The oil pan is 14 bolts (vs. 20 bolts for later stuff).

Front cover is different (because of the oil pan). Crank snout has a different bolt size.
