| | Sunday, December 01, 2002 - 07:38 pm Okay - this isn't on my GN..but on a 1969 406ci firebird i just got.. the launch was VIOLENT to say the least - on 275/60/15 M&H Racemaster street slicks..i can't believe the launch..im still seeing double.. Anyway - the E.T. was 12.10@106.65MPH. For the 60-foot..seems that on par with an 8-second drag car!? What are the BEST 60 foot times anyone has EVER got with a car that runs in the low 12's/high 11's? I got a pic of the run and my timeslip for all doubters..I just can't believe an f-body can launch that hard. What sucks - my friend was racing MY GN in the other lane..and the pic clearly shows the new firebird whooping it's butt at the end of the 1/4. Im either a new M&H Racemaster freak, or this 60-foot has been achaieved in my powerclass before. The car was dynoed at 282.2 RWHP before i changed to a single plane intake. This doesn't seem right...why wont GN's launch like this leaving with 15lbs boost!?!? Please explain/share 60-foots..if this keeps up - the GN's going up for sale asap. I dont want to give up that easy ![]()

| | Tuesday, December 03, 2002 - 02:52 pm So... what was the sixty foot? Typical 60 foots for my GN when it was low 12/high 11 was 1.60-1.63. Best of 1.59 or so. That ET with a low 106 MPH means that the car launched well, but ran out of steam on the big end. Normally a GN would be 111+ MPH with a low 12/high 11. It's all about how the car hooks, how the suspension is set up, and gearing/torque available at the launch. Does the Firebird have steep gears (like 4.88s/5.11s?)... that would explain a lot.

| | Tuesday, December 03, 2002 - 03:05 pm Thanks for the response, Ken. This has moved to the mailing list instead it seems. Here's a quick rundown.. 4.11 gears - auburn posi 4500 Stall (actual launch RPM) Winters Pro shifter on a built TH350 It did run out of steam too - has stock heads on the 406. 1.94/1.50 factory replacements..its amazing it can breate at all. Next season's gonna see AFR heads 2.08/1.60 aluminum and a cam to match. It launches at max torque. I installed a single plane intake vs. the Dual plane it came with on these runs. pics and clips vs my GN at: http://www.wideopenwest.com/~morpheus99/bird Best 60 foot on Nitto 275 DR's @ 15lbs boost = 1.70 in the GN. Best 60 foot in the Bird on 275/60/15 M&H Racemaster wrinkle-walls...1.28. Or maybe not ![]()
