dave simpkins (Simpkid) | Tuesday, August 14, 2001 - 01:43 pm I am toying with the idea of replacing the stock "3" coil pack ignition with an MSD distributor and coil. I nearly beleive all the hype and claims about increases in performance realized when a high power ignition is installed. My questions are 1.How does the crank trigger "signal" relate to a cam driven distributor ? 2.Does a "typical" distributor fit under the throttle body inlet pipe ? 3.Does my ACCEL DFI require any specific connection to or removal from any stock coil pack circuitry ? 4.Anybody out there running this type of ignition ? |
Kendall Frederick (Kendallf) | Tuesday, August 14, 2001 - 03:49 pm Jay summed it up well in his response, but I have one more thing to add: when I was at Duttweiler's a year or so ago he was running a Stage motor with a distributor using DFI as the fuel management; the motor had an interface box that went between the distributor and the ECM to mimic the cam sensor signal. I don't know who made it or how much it cost, but it died before the dyno pulls were complete. :-) |
Lawrence Zink (Zgroupracing) | Monday, January 21, 2002 - 07:45 pm This is the same thing I asked a while back and i had no responses to my inquiry, Is anyone using the DIS4 system and how does it perform? Larry |
Kent Rudbeck (Kar) | Saturday, February 02, 2002 - 02:31 pm The DIS4 works great. I've spanked out 1400+ HP using this system and put my 3335# regal through the 1320 in 7.85 Sec. @ 176 mph. |
Dave Simpkins (Suitcase) | Saturday, February 09, 2002 - 11:03 pm Hey KAR thanks for speaking up. I asked back in August about alternative ignit. ... see above 4 questions. Now I have 5th question what is "DIS4" ? Can you share your set up with me, or at least answer my questions. (forgot password plus now have new computr, server etc.. so I go by suitcase now ... aka simpkid) |
