Hi, I have an 87 GN with about 100KM according to the odometer. I have driven it for 3 summer's stock, and now I am ready to add on. I have about $1500.00 CDN and live in Toronto. I have a 160 therm on the car. It seem like a fuel pump, regulator, chip and exhaust are the norm. Do I replace the exhasut from the front all the way back? Any recommendation's as to brands would be helpful. I've looked at the recipes' page but it seems out of budget. I would like to go mid 12's. Thanks everyone.
p.s. could I add everything and get a GN shop to
" set up the car " so I don't screw up my baby.

Mid 12s are right on budget! About $600US (including some sticky tires or slicks) will get you mid12s.

Follow the Hot 'n Spicy Recipe and you'll be there.

Thanks Ken. Question. After I do the spring cleaning should the car be checked by someone with a scan tool (I don't have one) before adding on. Also the one problem I have noticed is oil type build-up inside the coolant resevoir attached to the plastic walls. The coolant itself looks free of oil. It did boil over once real bad when the fan wire broke. No performance problems though.

Consider a scan tool almost a must ... you'll need one to optimize whatever you do to the car. It'll pay for itself the first time you catch a problem BEFORE it spreads the shiny parts all over the highway! :)

There are several good choices within your budget amount, and you can still have the hard parts too.

Take a look at http://www.turbo-link.com and click on the "Comparison" link on the left. That will list the most popular tools...

Thanks, any idea about the oil film inside the coolant resevoir?

I've had that slimy crud every once and awhile in mine too (ever since it was new). After a radiator removal and flush, it seems to go away for awhile and come back. My thought is that it's probably related to impurities in the cooling system and nothing much you can do about it?

Appreciate all the advice. I'm sure I will post again when I run into problems after my spring cleaning. Some of the parts in the mid 12 recipe, I don't even know where they are exactly. Thanks again.
