I have an 87 gn that I put a used 237 fuel pressure reg.on, an upgraded fuel pump, a 92 oct. chip and a tps- tec on. The car ran great for about 4 trips(less than 10 miles each.) Then about a half mile from my house I let up on the gas and started to stop, the car died. It started right back up. I just figured it was a fluke. The next day I went to start it and it died after about 4 seconds. I figured maybe I got some bad parts,so I put everything back to stock. It still did it. since then, I have replaced the fuel filter, then the fuel pump relay. It still does the same. I can hear the pump run when I turn the key on. It runs untill there is pressure, then it kicks off. I start the car and it runs 3-4 second untill (I assume) it runs out of gas.If I turn the key off, then back on and let the pump run, it will start back up for the 3-4 seconds. I try to listen to see if the pump trys to run while the car is, but its kind of hard to tell. Any ideas? Thanks alot,Tyson

not enough/too much fuel pressure? Is your pressure set to low/high? My car would stall when I jumped from WOT to a hard stop becuase my pressure was to high.

You mention changing the fuel pump perhaps the pump wasn't installed correctly. Open the fuel line near the reg and see if you get a good
stream of gas.

Sounds like a loose connection to the fuel pump to me too.
Check:
- ground of the pump hanger (I always run a separate piece of wire just for insurance)
- Loose plug to the wiring harness by the back bumper
- Bad fuel pump relay

I checked over connections, even replaced pulsator with hose, have new pump relay. I was told by email(fromH.B.)( thank you) that the pump does not kick back on until the ecm reads 4 lbs of oil pressure. I think this is my problem.I looked at a wiring diagram. There should be a oil pump sending unit and a oil pressure switch. my guess is one is bad,or maybe a connection. my problem now is Where are these located at? anyone know? Thanks alot,Tyson Thanks to the rest of your comments too!

May want to try going backward, take off TPS tec and try it out. Then change back to your working stock FP regulator and try it. I always undo the done's when that happens since it's the most likely source.

Good luck, Joe

I got the car running,I replaced the fuel pump relay and then the oil pressure indicator switch( Its hidden behind the lower rad hose and under the turbo)but now the car will only run if I keep the rpms up past 3000 or so. Do I have too much fuel pressure? I have a 237 reg. which is non-adj. The 92 thrasher chips instructions say this is a good regulator to have.It also says that the minimum air setting(throttle blade gap at idle) is important to have set right. Anybody know how to get this set right,or know a good way I can tune my car. I don't have a scan tool? My guess is it's probably time to get one. Whats a good set up for tuning? Thanks to everyone thats helped. I am starting to learn about this car!lots more to learn I am sure!
