Arthur Keene (Turbo84gn) | Tuesday, May 07, 2002 - 07:02 am What is the gasket of choice for oil pans? Just had to replace the rubber gasket that came with the gasket kit because it leaked (less than 1000 miles since rebuild). When removed, noticed several internal tears in the material. Heat related? |

Patrick Ireland (Pireland) | Tuesday, May 07, 2002 - 04:36 pm Based on a recommendation from one of our members, I can't remember who, I used the heavy duty cork gasket that Duttweiler created and several of our vendors provide. It was interesting that the member who recommended it said to use a very thin layer of RTV black on each side of the cork before installing. I did and the gasket is as dry as a bone after about 3,000 miles. Try that and torque all fasteners to spec, evenly. |
