Please help! I took my 87 GN for a nice long ride, (first time in 3 weeks), and the next day found a big puddle of anti-freeze on the garage floor.

Checked all the hoses, radiator and can't find the leak. I crawled underneath, and the leak seems to be coming from someplace in front of where the oil pan is. Any sugestions? Does this sound like something an amatuer can fix? Or, should the car go right to the mechanic?

Thank you.

Sounds like a water pump ... usually leaks around the shaft.

Yes, I took a closer look and it does look like its the water pump. Any suggestion on where to find a water pump? Should I get it directly from GM??? Any idea on what this should cost?

Thank you again.

Get a "new" pump not rebuilt. GM pumps for the 3.8 are made by Airtex. Carter is another good brand. Shop around for price.

I found an OEM replacement water pump from Cottons Performance for 72.95, or I can get the Delco from GM for $123.44

Does anyone have any advise on which one I should go with?

Thanks.

I would get one that flows more (most do 40% more), and has a good warranty.
