Hi, I need help with my 85'GN. It gets alittle involved, so please bear with me. Okay this is the problem, when I tried to start the car, it seemed the battery went dead. Turn the key, the ignition chime sounded strong until I turned it into the start position, Thats when the chime died and the idiot lights dimmed. Well I thought it was ano brainer and went out to the store to pickup a new battery, problem solved right? Well of course not.
The problem still exists with the new battery. The car did run fine the day before and nothing blew up before all the problems started. I have noticed that when I try to start the car, it makes a ZAPPING sound from what appears to be coming from the intake manifold just under the turbo. But I can't find any wires in that area. I have checked the starter, altenator and even by the fuse box and everything seems to check out, But right now I'm at my wits end after being under the car for most of the day, and I reallly am not looking foward to the wrecker bill attached with some guy who's looking for the infamous and illusive "electrical bug".
Any help, advise or a good man to talk to regarding this would be greatly appreciated. My E:Mail address is JDORCA@OPTONLINE.NET or contact me via this message.

Jay

There's a ground cable that goes to the bottom of the turbo bracket. Check that ...

Also, the positive lead for the battery runs under the pass. side header and it can get to where the insulation is melted off (and short out).
