I don't think it's worth that much since it's been ground. Wonder what my new one is worth. It's the early number 1260877 that does not require new rods. Thanks for the tip. It will be fun to watch what it goes for.
I can't tell you the right source just check around. I had my motor freshened up and assembled
by someone else and couldn't believe the price.

good point, Phil..i was referring to brand-new. A 10 over crank is a tad more than Frank's price from what i've stumbled upon...if i looked hard enough, i'd think i could get closer to his price.
What a freakin joke. Find any 4.1 in a junkyard and pull the crank. Same exact thing and can usually be had for less than 50 bucks.
Do the 4.1s have rolled fillets? If not, a stout engine will break the crank. Major damage when that happens.
Yes, if it is a stock (as in not rebuilt by a line shop) 4.1l BUICK engine it has the rolled fillet crank. I have a few in my garage right now as a matter of fact. I bought an entire engine for 100 bucks, saved the crank, put in a N/A crank and stuffed the engine into my Vega wagon. Now I have a somewhat free turbo crank. I have another that is virgin and looks really nice except for the one spun rod journal. For sale if anyone is interested. How about 200 delivered? Probably less huh?
