I am in the process of switching the engine mounts on my GN. I got two replacement mounts from POSTON and the mounts had different part numbers on the boxes they came in. I would think with the different part numbers that the mounts would be side specific, however the new mounts do not have the "r" and "l" stamped on them. In fact, they look the same to me. I put one in the drivers side mount, not sure if it was the right one since it was very though to line up the mount to the holes in the chassis. It took a good bit of pressure on the rubber mount to get the holes to line up so I could put the screw through them to anchor the mount to the chassis? In anyones past experiences, do the mounts usually line right up during installation or do they take some effort to install them in? Maybe it is just a case of some chassis flex over the years?
I really just need to figure out if the mounts are side specific and if I have the right one installed on the drivers side?
Thanks,

I have not replaced both at the same time so I cannot answer for certain. If the holes lined up and the bolts went into the block then it should be okay as long as the mount centered in the bracket on the frame as far as I would think....

I switched the mounts out yesterday. It turns out that there is a specific left and right side mount. When you install them in the correct orientation, it is a snap. The drivers side mount has a small rib in the metal bracket that locates the mount a little different than the left mount. The left mount doesn't have any rib features at all.
On the old mounts, the drivers side mount was broken. The passenger side mount had taken shape to a deflected form over the years and the rubber ont the mount was cracking.
Installing the new mounts will move the engine up about a half inch due to the wear in the old mounts.

Good, should keep the down pipe away from the control arm. Thanks for the info.

Steve,
That is the truth. I used to run on of those sheilds that assembled around the diameter of the downpipe, but the darn thing liked to rattle at certain natural frequencies (just like a lose exhaust shield on a cat or muffler). I hated the rattling, so I switched to one of the kirban bushing shields that seems to house the bushing..much better design, no rattling.
Anyways, I think the new mounts will definitely raise the DP and give me some more clearance.

I just installed a new motor in a friends car over the weekend. His new stock motor mounts raised the engine so much that the 3" TH DP now hits the metal heat shield of the blower box.
How's that for one extreme to the other.
