Jonathan Muhek (Buick86turbo6) | Saturday, July 27, 2002 - 09:38 pm I have an 1986 TR and i have replaced the plugs, wires, coil pack. But i cannot stop it from misfiring. Can anyone provide any input on my situation? It would be greatly appreciated. |
Jay (Jayster) | Saturday, July 27, 2002 - 11:55 pm If you're talking about idle and not full boost conditions - i had the same problem. It turned out to be a bad injector(s)...they were the last resort after i had replaced almost every dang thing on the car too, and it fixed the problem (and also got be into buying a bigger turbo as well). :P |
frank marshall (Turbofrank) | Sunday, July 28, 2002 - 06:28 am how did the car run before the changes. If ok go back over items replaced and make sure all connections are correct. Check spark plug wires connection to coil and eng. cyl for proper coil to cyl match. |
Jonathan Muhek (Buick86turbo6) | Sunday, July 28, 2002 - 07:04 pm The misfiring is occurring at idle. I have already checked the connections for the plugs and wires. Could it have something to so with the ECM? or anything like that. |
Jay (Jayster) | Sunday, July 28, 2002 - 08:12 pm This is where a scantool comes into play. ECM is most likely NOT the issue though (at least in my experience). How bad is it missing? Does it seem like it's running on 5 cylinders, or just once in a while it will hiccup, then run smooth..then hiccup a couple seconds later, etc...or is it a constant rough-idle? Like i said - it was injectors for me causing the same problem you describe. Grab a wooden stick, and hold it up to each injector to make sure they're working..you should be able to easily hear them make a "clicking" sound when you hold the end of the stick up to your ear.. |
Jonathan Muhek (Buick86turbo6) | Monday, July 29, 2002 - 07:53 am It sounds like more than one cylinder is missing. I am going to try to listen to the injectors right now. thanks for the help. |
