I have a 87 Regal T-Type that is causing alot of problems for me. I will start out by saying my car has 100,000 miles on it and some modifications such as 42.5 lb injectors, type two ignition and coils, pt51 turbo, terry houston down pipe, test pipe, atr 3" exhaust, kennebell fuel regulater.,upgraded fuel pump and ATR pitbull chip are some of the mods I have done.
The problem I am having is a rough idle and when I give it any sort of throttle the car stutters and slowly picks up boost and then "pops" and drops boost and doesnt want to gain any power again.It sounds like a rev. limiter when it does this.I have just recently put the turbo on with a new wastegate. The injectors are new too. I have ran scan tools on my car and the only code that comes up is the o2 sensor, so I have replaced the o2 sensor and also put new sparkplugs in with out any help. Any ideas let me know.
rev limiter sound is almost always valve-float. Check that out - you could have a broken spring or worn out, etc.
Though we have almost identical mods - mine would pop because it was way too rich with too much timing in the chip. But - rev-limiter sound should happen consistently at the same rpm's, and thats the max rpm your motor is going to take. It might be your coil pack or something ignition-related if it happens all over the rpm range, and not just a specific rpm. If you can hit 5000 rpms sometimes with no rev-limiter sound - it's probably not your valvesprings. If it happens at 2200rpm sometimes, and 4400 rpm, or 3700, etc..it's probably chip or coil pack/ignition module.

I TOOK ANOTHER LOOK AT THE COIL PACK SETUP I HAVE, AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF LOOKING AT I DECIDED TO GET AHOLD OF MY BUDDY THAT HAD ANOTHER COIL SETUP LIKE MINE, I THOUGHT WHAT THE HECK, I WOULD TRY HIS IN PLACE OF MINE. wHAT A GREAT IDEA, I TEAR THE TIRES OFF OF MY CAR NOW. I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TRIED THAT AWHILE AGO. JAY YOU WERE RIGHT THANX FOR THE HELP.
