Howdy all...I'm looking for suggestions. I took my 86 GN to a local performance shop back in April. I know, I know....but I talked to several shops and these guys assured me they could handle it, and they've tried hard, they just aren't too familiar with all the nuances and peculiarities involved with the 3.8 turbo. Bottom line, they've put it all back together and now it won't run...all the time. I went to pick it up about a month ago and it wouldn't start. Since then, it's been frustrating for all involved trying to figure out what to do next. Here's what I know.
First of all, their best mechanic tells me he put in a new short block and had the heads reworked. The turbo was sent out to another shop for rebuild. They put everything back together and the guy tells me he can start it up first thing in the morning no problem, he says it runs strong, turbo performs great...it's pretty quick. Drive it around for a while and turn it off and it'll restart if you try it right away. If the car sits for 4-5 minutes...it won't start. We've got spark, fuel pressure at the rail is 35-40, everything seems normal (to me) but it won't start. I went by there today (it's been six months and I'm getting pissy about the whole deal) and the man was trying to figure it out. The first symptom was the starter seemed to drag, replaced starter and it turned over better but the same problem is there...it sounds like it's dragging. Today, the hood light would dim and the motor seemed to drag when they hit the key. The mechanic tells me he losing voltage to the fuel pump after he turns it off the first time. He's checked all the grounds, wiring, relay, etc. Bottom line, he's stumped and I'm no help. If anyone can help me point them in the right direction I'd be grateful. What should we try to help isolate whether this is a fuel, ECM, or mechanical problem? I can work with them to get symptoms and readings to get this fixed. I'm told their system scanner shows no error codes at all. Any suggestions?

Check the wire that goes from the battery to the starter. It sometimes rubs against the exhaust.
Are the plug wires or coil pack backwards?
My guess would be the cam sensor is not in the proper position.
