I have a problem with my 86 GN. Besides the Powermaster Brakes acting goofy, (Like everybodys)I have this problem.
When the vehicle is warmed up and I hit the gas, is sputters, bucks, and acts if it's going to stall. Once the Rpms kick up, the car runs fine. It' only happens when it's warmed up. Does anybody have a idea what might be wrong with her???
I WISH I KNEW,...then I would be happy.....mine does the exact same thing???
I think the first thing to check is your coil packs. Sometimes when the resistance in them is at or above 13, it will cause this condition. The readings should be around the 11-12 ohm range when the coils are cold and nothing over say 12.5 when they are hot. If you get a reading of 13 or more on any 1 coil, replace the pack and that should fix it.
whats up joe i had a simalar problem could be fuel related also i dont know what your combo is stock or any upgrades fuelpump,injectors,regulator,and so on.

The car is basically stock except for 3" exhaust and down pipe (NO Cats), flow masters, larger turbo and chip to control trans shift points. Even did a tune up: Ac Delco except for the plugs (NAPA). Car sputtered before the tune up so I'm ruling out that I screwed something up while doing this.
Joe, our transmissions aren't controlled electronically, so the chip isn't going to matter there. It will matter if it was setup incorrectly. Can you try a different (known good) chip? If the chip is programmed wrong, it will easily act like this. Other than that - I'd check the fuel filter. Try to get a known good chip 1st, your timing and/or fualing seems to be set out of whack at low engine load in that chip.

Sorry for the confusion with the chip. The chip is a Casper Ultrachip V4 Custom. On the back is a code V40251 and a date 4/97. It's controlled through a thumbwheel that I found inside the ashtray. Now, what does this thing do???
