Wednesday, December 04, 2002 - 09:54 am My A/C Compressor is making a awful bearing grinding noise, it has gotten so bad you can hear it inside the car. Does anyone know a cost efficient way of fixing this problem without having to replace the compressor itself? I have been told you can replace the bearings, without taking the compressor off? Anyone done this befor? Also,..I would rather just put a "idle" pulley in place of this,...who makes one? Thanks,.......

Wednesday, December 04, 2002 - 12:11 pm Yeah, thats not good news when your compressor makes noise. My experience is that usually the noise is coming from inside the compressor which means you got no choice but to replace it. If you can narrow down were the noise is at and if it is the pulley/bearing than those can be replaced cheaply by a technician with the proper tools. You can get a idler pulley that bolts right in place of the compressor from a GM dealer. Part number is 10118713 and retails for $42.40. If you cant find one e-mail me turbofish38@hotmail.com and I will sell you one for$34.00 plus S&H.
