I have an 86 T with the non Turbo 3.8 2 bbl. About 13 months ago I had problems with the engine. It chewed up the nylon timing gear, and to make a really stupid long story short, the engine threw a rod due to a lack of oil. (Nylon clogged Oil Filter....Repair guy "forgot.....") I am considering rebuilding it and giving it to my Girl Friend. HOW DO I CONQUER THE HUGE TASK?? How difficult will it be to find replacement parts to rebuild the origional engine, or would it just be easier to buy a new one? What should I do?

Well,...its easier to get a engine from the junk yard,..infact I have that exact same engine sitting in my back yard under a tarp! all you really need is the bottom end. if you havent had some sort of trainning on bearing clearences and tourqing,..you might want to consider a machine shop.
