I just took a 1986 gn out of a 5 year storage. The car has only 7208 miles on it. After changing the oil & replacing the battery, the car fired upped. After running about 10-15 minutes, the slight miss that was there went away. I ran the car with the same gas from 5 years ago. Have I damaged anything by using this old gas? Any suggestions on getting in up to speed after such a long hibernation? I am new to the group and want to thank you in advance for any help.

I wouldn't Imagine you hurt anything at all. However old gas can do some ugly damage such as tarnish and build up ect... not to mention the smell peeew! Anyhow, Its a little hard on your fuel pump but I would drain the gas off the fuel rail replace the fuel filter and run some sunoco 94 or better octane through it a couple times, and maybe some fuel system cleaner. You should be fine. After words I would follow the "spring cleaning" stepslocated here

Did you remeber to prime your turbo?
Also dont be to suprised if your tranny starts slipping,...Tranny's dont like sitting around for a long time. so it wouldnt hurt to have it freshened up either.
GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING,...AND LET US KNOW HOW THINGS WORK OUT!

you are luckey so far. I have seen varnished gas clog a complete system. Load it full of injection cleaner and you may be OK. It's too late now to drain the tank. After a few miles change the fuel filter again. Cut it open for inspection to decide when you should change it next.
