| | Tuesday, August 19, 2003 - 08:24 am No ... and just FYI, dual OHC isn't necessary.

| | Tuesday, August 19, 2003 - 09:59 am The old LT5 'vette, Lotus designed and Mercury Marine built, aluminum engine could be considered, but who would want to? This sounds like my dream of a 383 CID Chevy engine with dual turbos, and a front mount IC. Just a dream. Although my idea would be little more than a bolt in, it would mess up my perfectly nice straight WE4. It would kick butt though, wouldn't it? Maybe someday!

| | Tuesday, August 19, 2003 - 11:34 am Then is a reliable 400hp+ able to be built with the push rod setup. I am a new grand national enthusiast. All I know is I want the meanest engine I can possibly build and keep it reliable to drive on a regular basis.

| | Tuesday, August 19, 2003 - 12:20 pm Absolutely ... and there are literally hundreds of those combinations running around. The "meanest" engine would be more in the 600-650 HP territory and if you girdle the stock block, it can be a low/mid 10 car (like the current Turbo Stock Modified class). 500HP isn't that hard to make with the right combination. Take a look at the Recipes here: http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/recipes/recipepage.html Particularly: http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/recipes/recipe.html But first, prepare the car for "cooking" by performing the "Spring Cleaning": http://www.gnttype.org/maint/basics.html Lots of info on the web site and a lot of people are running an easy 400HP (high 11s or better) with their daily drivers.
