Hi.
I want to replace my stock thermostat with a 160 degree one. Where's the thermostat housing located? I see where the upper radiator hose goes into the engine. Is the housing around there?

Just follow the upper radiator hose the the intake. The thing that the hose hooks to is the "housing". It is held on by a bracket with a bolt through it. After the bracket is off the fun begins! It has an o-ring, and just slides right in the the hole (yeah right). It is a real pain. This is how I got mine out:
1. with hose on and clamped, use a pair of channel locks (with the curved jaws) to get it to turn in the intake. Go back and forth a few times.
2. still with the hose on and clamped, pull on the hose. Be carefull it will come out hard! Someone once suggested a matress on the ground in front of the car!
3. Swear!
3.5 Have a beer (optional)
4. Pull harder.
5. Swear some more!
5.5 Have another (manditory)
6. Pull while swearing!
Repeat steps 5.5 and 6 untill it comes out.
Many "housings" have been reuined during this process, but I found this method to be the easies on it and me. May wreck hose, though.
