Ok I'm sure this has been covered but I have 85 engine and was wondering what parts were the same as the 86/87. I was told the block was the same. Is that true? Heads? Crank? Anything?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm positive the block is not the same. Go to the photo guide on this site. They have pictures and part numbers as well discriptions for the different years.This should help.

Block shows a different part number for 86-87. The heads and crank are the same.
