Sunday, November 02, 2003 - 06:07 pm Well, I think Im really up shitcreek now. Car started missing as if I had a melted plug wire. So I checked into it and found my MAF screen and clip were missing,...Fearing the worst I pulled my tubes off to find my turbo has been nawled up with a now loose shaft. I guess my biggest question is how did this happen? and will I need a complete overhaul? would the intercooler box catch the big chunks? Now what do I do? can I rebuil the turbo my self?

Friday, November 28, 2003 - 01:21 pm Well since I havent had a response, Ill ask this,...I have the stock converter so should I buy a stock turbo in place of my TE-44? I have always had an "off the line" power problem.

Saturday, November 29, 2003 - 07:12 am I wouldnt try to rebuild it yourself it is a little tricky, you might consider rebuilding that unit but I believe you can rebuild it with a smaller turbine housing for faster spool up and leave the compresser side alone.Ask your local turbo rebuilder or one of the vendors that question I believe it could be done. But definatley get that mass air screen or else same promblem will happen again for sure.

Saturday, November 29, 2003 - 08:41 am I wouldn't go back to stock if you already have a 44. I used to launch at 10+ lbs with a 44 and stock converter, routinely lifted the left front tire with 1.6x short times. There's another issue if you are having slow spoolup with the 44.
