Anyone know what the diameter of the long bolt that goes thru the engine mounts (block and frame)? It almost seems like 1/2" is a little tight. Are they 7/16"?
BTW- I never got the bolts when I bought the car. The engine was out of the car. Putting this sucker back together has been a challenge.
i believe they are 7/16 but some one had also mentioned that they might be metric??14 or 12 millimeter? Not sure.
GM parts book shows 7/16x14. 3 and 3/4 long. GM part # 9430757 bolt and # 9422299 nut. If you need parts illustrations let me know via e-mail. Sometimes they help with a basket case reassembly.
Sweet. Thanks guys. I was getting nervous because I had measured out one of the mounts (engine side) and it was just a hair over .5". So last weekend I drop the engine in it's home and I couldn't get a bolt through the mount hole on the other side of the engine. It was just a hair smaller than .5". At that point I'm thinking I'll have to remove the SOB just to drill out the hole. I was also thinking even if they were supposed to be .5" the clearance in the frame mount was a little too tight and would need a little help from the BFH just to tap the bolt through. That won't be needed now.
Follow up to last post:
Inserted 7/16" bolt thru mount/braket combo on driver's side no problem. Couldn't get the passenger side lined up. Farted around for hours raising the engine with cherry picker, moving tranny up and down, rocking the block side to side, backing out engine side bolts half way, etc. Decided to purchase a different bracket (engine side) from Autozone. I bolted it up, lowered the engine, and threw the 7/16" bolt thru it with no problem.
