| | Tuesday, February 03, 2004 - 09:24 am Howdy, I'm now entering the final stage of Buick addiction, and I'm only 23! I've done big block 455, Nailhead 425 and I'm now to the boosted V6. I blame my 97 Regal GS for that, but thats another story. Anyway I'm building a 4.1L Twin Turbo V6, I just have to go with the biggest engine I can. I've gone and read the reciepe for the 4.1 and have a few questions concerning that and a few more about this whole hairbrained idea anyway. First and foremost, how much power is the stock crank, rods, block, and heads going to support before something snaps and how much booste can I run with twin intercoolers and alky/water injection? Current plan is to use the rare Speedpro 4.1L Hypers, I know you say to stay away but why? ARP studs on the top and if I can get them, the bottom, Felpro 1000 gaskets, ported stock heads, polished rods, and custom headers. Now for the wierd stuff, I'm using a stock 86/87 turbo intake, computer, ignition, and harness with a Ramcharger's MAF translator+ and LS1 MAF with extender chip. Can I get away with high impedence injectors, say 50#, or do I need the low impedence ones? For turbos, I'm probably going to get a pair of Volvo T3's and use Ford Probe Intercoolers and relocate the radiator and A/C condensor. Anything I missed, any turbo specific parts I left out I need to get the 4.1 into turbo shape and live? Thanks

| | Tuesday, February 03, 2004 - 12:08 pm Cool project! 50# injectors are going to be marginal depending on what you run for boost. You might consider the new 60# injectors (http://www.appauto.com) which we (MotoTron) sells or you can get your ECM modded by people like Bob Bailey for low impedence injectors if you want to go bigger. The mounting of the MAF will be just before the throttle body (I assume)? That'll be pretty slick, if so ... should have good tunability with the Translator. Definitely use the studs on the top and bottom. I'd use either the Cometic or the Victor style head gaskets instead of the 1000s, just to avoid possible problems with the fire ring.
