after changing to Poston headers, changing the timing chain and cover, cam sensor, crank sensor, oil pump, and cam button, we now seem to be having an issue of blow back into the air filter when trying to build boost. We did have a gasket between the terry houston downpipe and the turbo that was torn and thus removed? (has anyone else had a gasket here if so where did you get it and can you give us a part number)Anyone with any ideas why we can't keep boost would as always be greatly appreciated. I know we changed a few things but that is only because we had a knock in the front of the motor which appears to have been the oil pump (deep grooves were discovered when this was taken apart) but since the car is 14 years old (an 87) we felt it time for the other upgrades. The headers we needed since we still ran stock and had a cracked one on the driver's side. Any ideas?

Where is the "blow back" coming from? The right hand side breather? I guess I'm having a tough time visualizing what's going on?
I have also heard this called turbo flutter, it seems the turbo isn't able to hold boost it keeps making a noise and the boost is no more. It was able to hold the boost before the above was done. It seems to be releasing this now
we swapped the old adjustable regulator back and now the problem seems to be gone, no more flutter it builds boost until you back out of it.
Well, it worked for one or two tries, worked up until the last bit before getting home now back to only able to build 5#'s of boost before it flutters and loses all the boost anyone have an idea?
Found out what the issue was it was the wastegate solenoid valve gone bad and now it's boosting correctly, if we could figure out why direct scan is showing 15 mph when plugged in and causing the car to hesitate when plugged in I would be really happy.
