Does anyone know why the cam shaft has moved forward and the timming gear magnet has hit the cam sensor? This engine does not appear to have a spring and button to put pressure on the front of the cam. I dont see any wear on the back side of the Thrust Plate that bolts the cam into the engine. Help Please .

I believe that there is supposed to be a spring with a roller thrust in there to hold the cam back against the block. Evidently your's must have broken then fell out and is now in the pan?

Bummer

I had looked at an illustrated parts breakdown from the gm dealer. It does not show a spring or button to hold the cam in place. I am a total loss as to how the cam has moved forward. Tempted to make a spacer (Metal washer) and place it between the thrust plate and the front of the cam, if I can figure out how thick to make it.
