New GN owner and I need to rebuild my engine.(spun rod bearing)Anyway, I got this guy I'm going to have do it but I have a few questions...This is going to be a daily driver and doesn't need to go THAT fast. I'm thinking I should leave the heads alone. Port/Polish? And should I go 30 over on the pistons? I was told it's good but my Uncle told me to leave them stock and to NOT bore the block. Please give me some recommendations and Info! Thanks

If it doesn't need to be bored, then I wouldn't bore it. These blocks can only be bored so much, and if you can wait until the next time, then the block will last you that much more. Also, the machine work will be less.

Suggest that while you have the mill apart, do some modifications to the front(timing)cover (waterpump/oil pump). There are some tight 90* bends in the timing cover oil passages that can be reamed, and polished to increase volume/velocity of oil thro' this area (recommended in one of the many Buick Perf. books ... Ruggles I think)... also, adding a higher(oil)pressure relief spring will ensure lots of pressure and volume to the crank. These are cheap mods to do when you are already apart.

Where Can I Get The Replacement Or Rebuilt Motors From? People here say just get a V6 out any ole Buick. Or just have one the local guys do it.
