Has any one plugged the oil drain back holes in the block to prevent oil from falling on top of the crank, and allowing it only to flow through the hole over the timimg chain. Supposedly you gain some HP by freeing up the crank. I am doing a rebuild and am considering this, but don't want to run into any oil starvation situations.

Very common thing to do on Chev and other motors that don't have cam lobe failure problems like we do. Unless you are running roller lifter setup I wouldn't advise it on our stock block setups. Those lobes need all the oil they can get, whether it's splash, drip or poured over from above :^)
