Wednesday, December 26, 2001 - 11:43 am i pulled off the pipe that goes from theintercooler to the throttle and its soaked in oil...how do i fix this

Wednesday, December 26, 2001 - 01:57 pm You need to buy a kit to replace the passenger side valve cover breather setup. It will have a new breather element and a rubber cap to seal off the hole on the turbo after deleting the breather to turbo hose.

Thursday, December 27, 2001 - 08:15 am The stock plumbing on the 86/87 cars includes a vent line from the passenger's side valve cover to the turbo inlet. Although its presumably there to allow the car to burn off oil fumes for emissions, its primary function seems to be to allow the turbo to ingest oil and spray it into the intercooler and beyond. If you still have this hooked up, get a breather/cap setup as Curt mentions to prevent this from happening. If your car already has this, your turbo seals may be leaking oil and it should be checked. This could be a sign of bad things to come. Either way, you should remove the intercooler and up-pipe to clean them out. Have a look at http://www.gnttype.org/maint/basics.html for some information about cleaning out the intercooler.

Thursday, December 27, 2001 - 02:19 pm I have tried a number of things in the past and they didn't work. Bypass hose,AC pcv ,pass side breather. What has worked for me since 1994 1. disconnect the hose from the pcv to vacuum pod that sit on top of throttle body. 2. put a hose over the pcv long enough to reach the pass side fender where the hose will go into a can. Any small can like a soda, beer You can even foget the can and run the hose down near the trans. There will not be a lot of oil leak. Plug the vac line to the pod with a closed nipple put a tie or clamp on it for security. Do put a filter on the pass valve cover and nipple on the turbo as Curt says.If you have to go thru inspection than put the stock parts back. I havn't cleaned my inter. or other connecting parts since Frank

Sunday, March 31, 2002 - 01:08 pm My passenger side valve cover has the little k&N filter on it, and the turbo hook-up is bloked off,the pcv valve is un hooked from the vacum block and the vacum line is bloked off. Im still getting oil in my breather pipe from the inter cooler to the t/b,and my brandnew engine with only about 300 miles on it smokes . need help please!!

Sunday, March 31, 2002 - 09:28 pm Oh yea i forgot to tell you that my turbo is also brand new.

Monday, April 01, 2002 - 07:38 am Your vac line is broke off? I assume the line to the vac block. Is this line blocked off? Did you clean your intercooler out before installing the new turbo. Frank

Monday, April 01, 2002 - 07:47 pm Yea, the vac line is bloked off, i cleaned out the inter cooler using diezel fuel.when i first start the car it doesnt seem to smoke, but as soon as i rev it up and it warms up it starts to smoke really bad even while idling . could i have a ring problem? im so desperate im getting ready to pull the engine out again.new engine, new turbo ,new build tranny and stall, thought maybe theres diezel fuel left in the inter cooler but its smoking blue and it smells like oil, got to figure this out quicly because my driving season in rather short up in Mtl. Canada.

Monday, April 01, 2002 - 11:54 pm yves, sounds to me from your last description that you may have bad valve stem seals. Real bad ones at that!! when the car is ideling is when you'll get the most smoke. when you punch the throttle (WOT, while driving) the car will blow a cloud of smoke and clear up. Untill you start to slow your speed and drive in traffic or light to light situation. If these are the symptoms you have, this may be your problem. I know you said every thing else was new, what about your heads?? Have they been worked on??? Did you check the cylinder psi. (compression check)? They should be within 10% of each other. Dont even think of pulling the motor out with out doing this test (dont jump the gun). I hope this is of some help, MARIO

Tuesday, April 02, 2002 - 12:44 pm Thanks Mario ! I just got the same opinion from a speed shop today, the guy who build my engine told me that he had installed valve seals that didnt seal too much!! or what ever he meant by that , thinking these engines ran up a lot of heat. The thing is Im running an hypertech ship and a 160 therm.so it doesnt run hot at all. The story on the valves seals is not clear cause the gentleman died a month after doing my engine. Im getting ready to do a leak test in each cylinder before pulling the engine out,and Ill let you guys know what i find. Thanks a lot Yves.

Sunday, August 11, 2002 - 07:16 pm Hey! guys looks like you were right, all my valve seals are poped up and are not sealing much anymore. could someone recommend me as to wich kind of seals will do the job properly, and maybe shed some light on the (no seal on the exsaust valve thing!!) im boosting about 18lbs. and plan on a little more thinking of going with an alcohol injection setup. thanks in advance Yves From M.T.L. Canada.

Monday, August 12, 2002 - 05:48 am I think I bought my intake valve seals from Johns Performance.http://www.johnsperformance.com/ You're right, there are only seals for the Intake valves, but I'm not quite sure why they did it this way. HTH,Curt.

Monday, August 12, 2002 - 11:23 am The turbo motors really heat the exhaust valves up and the oil is meant to help cool a bit.

Sunday, October 06, 2002 - 02:47 pm I just got done puting my engine back in the car, and now the fuel pump and my injectors dont seem to work. I know my pump is good because when i jump it with the gray wire in back of the alternator the pump works. When i turn on the ingnition i dont hear the pump and my injectors are not working because even after cranking the engine my sparkplugs are bone dry.could i have forgotten to plug something up ? or could something have gone out while the car sat there for a few months, everything worked when i parked it there before removing the engine... HELP! Yves M.T.L. Canada
