I have removed the dip stick tube to remove the Driver's Side header (it was cracked, I'm going to ask Ron's Custom Auto to weld it). Noticed a thick hard and a little gooey substance at the flange at the end of the tube where it meets the block. Does a seal belong there? Can't see a seal in the parts diagram.

What should I used if there is no seal? Black RTV or nothing?

Thank you

not sure if there is a specific seal for that, maybe a oring, but if you get the tube and hole perfictly clean meaning no oil or dirt at all black rtv will do the job well, good luck.

There is no seal or oring for the dipstick maybe the previous owner used some. The dipstick tube
should fit snug into the block
