hello ive always loved grand nationals, but were very heavily into rice rockets, especially since living in california (a man can love all types of cars). im done with them, just got to figure a way to trade in my honda and get a 87 grand national. as a newbie, anyone got any info on were i could attain a grand national from a dealership, what performance products are a must off the bat (ie like for mostcars intake/header/exhaust) and any encouragement would be appreciated thanks!
If you're looking for a GN from a dealership, check out Kirban's (www.kirbanperformance.com) and click on the cars for sale link. He's been heavily involved with GN's and T's for many years. There are a lot of cars that come through the for sale section of this board as well as www.turbobuick.com. If you really want one, it shouldn't be that hard to find. Just be careful, read a lot and ask questions. Buick guys are generally great and very willing to help another enthusiast. These cars are different from almost any other car on the road. Don't get too concerned about what parts you need right away. You can get a lot of performance from a very little investment. You can also add a lot of stuff and slow the car down. The secret is in the learning and tuning. Before you do any modifications, plan on getting a scan tool - go to www.turbo-link.com for a comparison of the types out there. Next, you'll need a fuel pump and hot wire kit. The stock ones were marginal at best. You don't want to run lean. There are many "recipes" on this site from guys who have spent years sorting these cars out. You will find some great advice on there. You'll get the idea quickly. Welcome, but I feel it is only fair to warn you, these cars are addictive.
